A newborn baby. So tiny. So precious. So fragile.
As parents, we want to give our children the world and protect them from all the harms of life. Tiny faces. Little hands. Miniature people. They come into our lives so pure and clean, trusting us to provide for all their needs and keep them safe.
In 2008, my husband Sam and I brought a beautiful baby boy into the world. Having already committed to an organic diet and eliminating chemicals from our everyday lives, we were determined to pass this tradition on to our precious son and set out to create the perfect environment for our beloved offspring.
Like all parents, we wanted our child to be healthy and happy; a safe place to sleep was a number one priority. We understood that since babies tend to sleep a minimum of 16-18 hours a day, spending ¾ of their day breathing into their sleeping surface, an organic mattress would be our best option. But when we began to shop for one, we were shocked at the prohibitive prices. From store to store we went, and not one reasonably priced mattress was to be found.
We were dismayed. What about all the parents out there who wanted the best for their children, but couldn't afford it? Should health have a price tag? And what about all those children, who were daily being exposed to chemicals and noxious substances, when a healthier option was available, but inaccessible, simply due to lack of money!
Determined and driven, we set out to change the status quo and create a better reality. We decided to craft a safe, comfortable and healthy mattress, and provide it to the public at an affordable price. And so, with the birth of our son, Charles, Greenbuds was born, giving all parents the opportunity to provide their children with the best start on life. Because at Greenbuds, we truly believe that health shouldn't have a price.
